Bushy Bluestem Found throughout the state in moist soils and wetlands. Masses of this 3-5 foot grass, var. glomeratus, and other varieties make beautiful flowing meadows among tall pines. The affect of wind gives movement to the landscape and as the seed heads dry and turn golden and brown, sunlight creates a magical shimmering effect. Simply plant tall slash pines, a few patches of saw palmettos mixed with native shrubs and large, open winding areas of this grass to walk through. Other species of Andropogons can be used in drier sites and mix well with wildflowers. Leave mulched paths to walk through for a mowless yard.
